Hummingbird is an optimization plugin by the WPMU DEV team. And it provides several tools to help you speed up your blog.
Both plugins, Molongui Authorship and Hummingbird, work well together. There is only one scenario where you might face an issue, though. Local avatars uploaded with Molongui Authorship won’t be displayed correctly when you have the Gravatar Caching option enabled.
The Gravatar Caching stores local copies of author Gravatars, so are those images the ones loaded in post bylines, comments and other parts in your blog. It is a nice quirk, but it breaks our Local Avatar feature.
Unfortunately, we have no way to fix this by ourselves. We need WPMU DEV to add a small piece of code in their plugin so we can get it working together. That’s why we have opened a ticket with them. Hopefully they will answer soon
Meanwhile, the only workaround is to disable the Gravatar Caching setting. Far from desirable, but actually the only option. To do so, please follow these simple steps:
- Go to: Hummingbird > Caching > Gravatar Caching
- Click on the Deactivate button
That’s really it! The page reloads and Gravatar Caching is disabled.
